#Vehicle of Emdogain
Propylen glycol ester of alginate (PGA)
* Usually used as Thickening agent (in food, pharmaceuticals)
* Neutral PH (effectively helps to solving EMD)
* Thixotropic rheology (reduced viscosity under constant shearing condition)
: EMD can be used under viscous state
→ makes it possible to coat of root surface completely.
→ PGA is rinsed out right after application on operation site (easy handling)
*According to manuel, dry condition of operation site is recommended, however, bleeding after application of EMD is favorable to healing.
#EMD propertives
Application of EMD results in limited epithelial down-growth, in contrast to the control sites.

Addition of EMD to cell culture media resulted in enhanced proliferation of PDL cells, as well as increased protein and collagen production and mineralization. In contrast, EMD had no significant effect on epithelial cell proliferation in vitro.

#Clinical safety
There was no increase in those antibodies among the patients.

On the contrary, it was demonstrated that the topical application of Emdogain in instrumented periodontal pockets with probing depth exceeding 5 mm enhanced the early healing of the periodontal soft tissue, as was evidenced by gingival condition (gingival index), bleeding on probing, and dentin hypersensitivity tests.
